Do I limit wifi range by using B instead of G?

I assume this is a dumb question but I'd like to limit the bandwidth on this particular router. I have the option to do B, G, or mixed. Is there a major difference between the range of B and G?

More about limit wifi range
  1. not necessarily the range but the speed.

    B 11Mbps
    G 54Mbps

  2. So if I turn the speed down to 2mbps (dd-wrt router) I would achieve my goal of a 2 megabit max? (2000 Kbps). Is that correct or am I missing a conversion somewhere?
I don't have access to the router today or I'd try it and quit asking dumb questions.
