Dead cpu

so today i set up my old comp for my mom to use after i built a new one, sfter i set it up it was fully working etc but now its not. when i turn the comp on i dont get a picture i tryd the gfx card from this comp to see if it would work and nothing same thing. i had the problem with that comp a while back and it was the cpu. so just before i spend cash on fixing it i just want to clarify that its the cpu that has dandomly died?

gigabite motherboard 4gig coarsair ram pentium d cpu ... and using the onboard gfx atm.. this is the 3rd time ive had this prob with this comp and its allways been the cpu ><

then check you psu could be overvolting the board and burn cpu
