Hi, i bought a Sapphire 2GB Radeon HD 6970 from OCUK on offer a few weeks ago with a free dirt3 and Deus EX:HR, which i actually don't need, under the impression it was a very good card. I have noticed that a few places are out of stock and i am now wondering if they are an out of date card or just not desirable and the offer was to get rid of "dead" stock.

How does this card i have compare to the latest offerings from Nvidia?

The fatest single core card from AMD and the second fastest single GPU card in the world... Its not bad

However AMD are due to release their new gen of cards very soon (rumoured to be anytime from Q4 2011 to Q2 2012) so they need to sell their 6xxx stock.

Graphics cards always get outdated quickly, no point worrying about it.

ok, i just saw some benchmarks setting it only slightly faster than a gtx 560 ti. And considering i paid £260 for it, it would be a waste if a £180 gpu had similar performance.

Thanks for you input omgitzfatal, would you mind heading to my other thread in th new build section and giving me your opinion on that?

The HD6970 has the edge, from my experience and reviews I've read the HD6970 seems to trade blows with the GTX570 at higher resolutions with the eye candy turned on

I've sold a pair of GTX570's for my HD6970's due to the GTX570's running out of VRAM at 1920 x 1080 with AA which was causing stuttering / lag spikes.

What resolution do you play at?
