Unable to restore cd player

I'm trying to restore my cd player, which is currently not recognised on my dell inspiron. I've gone into the IDE channel in device manager but instead of current transfer mode it just says current mode and I can't toggle or adjust this - there is no option to change this mode

its possible that the connecter has come loose on the motherboard, or drivers if applicable may be corrupt
