Task manager only shows one cpu

Hello,
My system shows 8cpu but in task manager only one is running. I run Windows XP Pro 32bit with an Intel i7. My motherboard is an ASRock H61M-VS.
Do I need to re install XP (which would mean an awful lot of work with my other software) or is there a simple way to enable all 8 to run? I am not expert but can follow instructions!

Yes there is. The 'single whole CPU' view is handy for some things.
But most people like to see the individual cores working.

In Task Manager, Performance Tab, select View, CPU History and the option you wish to use.
