Cold cathode vs. UV or cold cathode AND uv? Please explain.

Hello! Thanks for coming! I was thinking about getting a UV light for my antec 900. I was looking for some aesthetic mods and such and came across UV reactive paint, coolant, wires, etc. I already bought a 12in blue cold cathode (not really bright) and was confused by some ads. The ad says UV colored cold cathode. Does that mean that they named the color "UV" or does that mean that blue, purple cathodes are all UV? Thanks for your help again! I can post pics if you would like.

  1. What's the make and model of the CCFL that you purchased?

Or post a link to it.
  2. there is literally no markings at all... I bought it from micro center if that helps. Also, it seems to act just like a "plasma ball" in the way when i touch it, "plasma" gravitates towards my finger.

Do you see it listed here?

That one doesn't have UV light output.

If it doesn't say 12" UV Cold Cathode Light then it's not a UV CCFL.

UV CCFL's are not bright. They are really only visible/usable in a dimly lit or dark room otherwise you won't see the glow of the UV reactive surfaces.
  5. would the light of led lights ruin uv lights then?

It could drown out the UV glow depending on color, how many and how bright the LEDs are.

You can also get UV LEDs.
  7. would you happen to have a link for UV leds?
