Which Radeon HD 6950 1 GB Should You Buy Article?

Holy crap, did this article throw me for a loop. Im ready to buy ASUS 6970 2gb card and now this article comes out. hmmm...

Ok, if there saying that most of the time the 1gb is big enough for games how does it work for multi display setups with infinity? Will the additional mem work there?

More about which radeon 6950 article
  1. I recommend you the msi R6850 cyclone pe oc. that card is quiet, good looking and cool. I have it, and it's an excellent card.

edit: sorry, I thought it said 6850, not 6950. ignore this comment.
  2. Video Memory is used to store texture data for each frame rendered. The more pixels and more detailed the textures the more video memory needed. For today's games 1GB is not saturated when only using 1920x1080 (2073600 pixels).

If you are going to use Eyefinity, you will be using 3 monitors or 5760x1080 (6220800 pixels) the added video memory will be used in that case since the data for each frame will be roughly 3 times as big.

    Hope that helps!

  4. I think you wrote on one of my questions yesterday or day before.
I just purchased a i7-2600k processors and am adding it with the rest of the package.
I want to do 3 monitor set up, gaming, bf3. Thats it in a nut shell?
  5. What's your budget?

For 3 monitors you definitely do want 2GB of video memory, like I said above.
