Hey folks, I am building a new system utilizing a 2600K i7 processor. At first I was going to use an MSI P67 board with Mushkin RAM, but I couldn't find an MSI QVL list to see if the Mushkin was compliant. As a result, I have come up with the following hardware.
The question is, on the QVL it says 4 sticks, but on the motherboard details it says it supports only dual channel. Would 4 sticks still be qualified as dual channel? Am I entirely missing something? Sorry if this is very obvious or a stupid question, my ignorance of memory/motherboard support and lack of ability to read QVL lists is apparent here, thank you for your help.
4 memory slots = 2 x dual channel.
1 stick RAM = Single channel, 2 stick RAM = Dual channel, 3 stick RAM = Single channel, 4 stick RAM = Dual channel
They are usually colour coded but not in this case. The manual will explain which slot is which channel.
I'd suggest you download and read the manual before you decide what to buy. See: Max memory size overall, max size per stick. Speed(eg: 1600mhz)
Voltage (1.5v 1.65v)
