AMD Radeon 6970 problem

Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards AMD Radeon 6970 problem

Word :    Username :

I do not know my exact setup but...

GPU: HIS AMD Radeon 6970
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 Processor
Gigabyte motherboard
8 GB OCZ gaming ram
850W gaming PSU

I got the 6970 as a Christmas present. The only game I currently play is World of Warcraft and it has been running fine until this past week. I have made no changes to my hardware but I did download the new catalyst drivers, I believe 11.10.

Normally my FPS are at around 70-90, however, in the same place and same environment in the game my FPS will drop to 10-20 for about 3 minutes and then pull back out.

I checked my temperatures and my CPU is about 34 and GPU is about 45-50C so it does not seem like a temperature issue.

Can someone help please, its frustrating....

Also my settings are on "Good" and have remained the same in WOW since December.

latest CCC is 11.9, 11.10 was a preview driver. Uninstall the current pack and download the latest official from AMD and see how it goes...

^ I was using 11.08 and seemed to never have a problem. I updated to 11.09 and it seemed that the frame rates were dropping while I had 11.09 but I can not directly relate them to drivers. I downloaded the 11.10 preview drivers last night but have not tested them out. When I get off work I will play and see if the FPS still drop. Is there some type for log that I can do and post in here to enable a better way of people recognizing the problems or cancelling others out.

Download MSI Afterburner, in the ON SCREEN tab you can set the values to record the GPU usage, FPS, Temps
