Building first PC

Hi,

I've decided on my motherboard but nothing else, I've gone with the Zotac H55ITX-C-E and I'm trying to build a Mini ITX PC. So, what I need to know is what else do I need to build a Mini ITX? I don't know what case or CPU to get as I'm afraid of getting something that doesn't fit it. Not looking for a dedicated graphics card or anything like that. Do I need a fan? Do most cases come with PSUs? Can anyone do me a low-end setup based around this motherboard?

Cheers.

  1. Typically if you're just looking for a rig to browse the internet on, watch movies, run a few apps I'd recommend just getting one of the $300-400 setups that you can find at any major department store. By the time you end up paying for shipping from most online retailers you'll blow by the limited budgets and end up with a machine that's going to be less stable than a preconfigured mass manufactured setup. An Operating system and Monitor alone push you over $200.

  3. I've come to this list of components, do these all work together and would I need anything else for a barebone PC?:

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATAIII 6Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive OEM by Western Digital

    Zotac H55ITX-C-E Motherboard by Zotac

Thermaltake VL52021N2 Element Q 220W Mini ITX Case by Thermaltake

  4. Not sure about mobo
  5. I'd get this motherboard instead:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121421

That case you showed is only a 200W power supply, and while you won't need much, that's very tiny. I'd go something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811192089

    or for a little extra:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144162

And don't bother with 8GB of memory. 4 will be more than enough for you.
  6. ^your chosing an outdated processor. Stick to the newer i3 2xxx series and motherboard of your choice. The newest socket is 1155. just type this "mini itx 1155" into a google shopping search and you will build a pretty good list of motherboards to chose from. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=mini+itx+1155&hl=en&prmd=imvnsfd&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=dVzqTtDeKO2SiQe4ht2WBw&ved=0CCoQrQQ
