The Bad news first :
Plextor is going to end production of SCSI CD-rom drives!
The Good : Instead of producing SCSI CD-Rom drives they will be producing SCSI DVD-Rom drives!
What do you think of that?

It's a pity. Sure, the new Plextors have burnproof, preventing buffer underruns, but those who have an all-SCSI system may want to keep a SCSI CDRW. DVD RAM you mean? Discs are much too expensive...

It's a pity they aren't making SCSI CDRWs anymore. Not that it's a pity they're going to be making DVD RAMs :)

Guys, guys!!!
Can´t you read?
CD-Rom and DVD-ROM drives ! Not CD-RW drives or DVD-RAM!
They´re completely different set of equipment!

Well, OK!
But there´s still one problem!
Only you can use the drive! No lending DVD´s to friends
and NO DVD-ROM format!

Uhh...
Sorry Make that 3 problems!

Uh...I think most DVD drives can read DVD-RAM. I'm not sure about stand-alone DVD players, but both DVD-ROM (which does exist) and DVD-RAM are on the list of readable formats for my Toshiba 6x.

No they are not!

DVD-Ram uses a box like the old SCSI CD-Rom drives!
I think the name is Caddy!
Only those with a DVD-Ram drive can use it!
