So I have decided to install an SSD and would like to get it right from the start. I have a Mushkin Chronos 240GB SSD where i would like to do a clean instal of Win7. However, I started off in BIOS where nothing plugged into SATA ports 1 and 2 (6gb/s) are detected. When plugging in to any other SATA port it is detected as a Hard disk. Now since I will want this ssd in sata 3 port I need to get it detected. Interestingly when I check boot priority , my ssd is showing up as IDE when in ports 1 and 2, but in other ports its identified as HDD. Now any ideas on how to get this SSD to be detected in my SATA 3 ports?

Try installing Windows with the SSD connected to the Intel SATA 2 port. Then install the Marvell driver. Connect the SSD to the Marvell SATA port (6GB/s) and set it as the first boot device. See if it does work this way. Check also if Marvell is enabled in BIOS.
