Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

Hi, I'd really appreciate someone's help. My PC screen gets the blue screen of death, shutsdown, then says it is a bad driver, I have tried to reinstall the driver for the NVIDIA 8400M GS , but it keeps telling me I already have the best driver installed, then my screen goes black, and when I restart the pc, it will come on in a split screen. Help please! The only other thing is I keep seeing a yellow ! in device manager on Consumer IR, I uninstall it,but it keeps coming back. What should I do? Thanks so much!

  1. I would down load the newest driver then disconnect from your wireless signal then delete the old driver from your device manager after that install the new one. Good luck.
  2. I suggest restarting the PC after uninstalling the old drivers then install the new ones.

If you still have the same issue then please use this to remove all traces of nvidia drivers

It will require a restart then install the new drivers you downloaded and if you still have issues Id say that the card has some issues and may need to be replaced.

    Hi,

the NVIDIA 8400M GS is a bad chip.

theirs not much you can do except change the mobo as it is likely dying out

here a link that might interest you.

Thanks, Dex, I will look at the links. I think you are right about the mobo dying out- The pc seems to work good until it begins heating up....then CRASH!
