"Experienced start-up is in need of a college student/intern who is proficient in JAVA and MySQL. This is a great opportunity to join a company that has been featured in the top tech-event DEMOfall 2010. We are looking to expand and are looking for individuals who are motivated and like to work in a lax environment.

Your work will be implemented into the website. You will work on projects alongside talented, experienced professionals with the opportunity to see what it is like to work for an experienced start up company. This summer internship lasts from June 1-August 12. "

This is unpaid and I might be eligible for college credit.
The thing is this company -uvisor.com is a 3 year old start up company that is very stagnant, only getting 400 hits per day.
There are only 8-10 people running this site and the company makes little to no revenue. Like one dollar a day.
Also the listing for this is over a month old when I applied and they contacted me immediately for an interview...desperate?

Should I go for it, if I dont get any other internship offers?

Looks like the site needs a new look.
Much too cartoonish to be a job seeking , career making ,decision making site .(First impressions count! I thought I mistyped the URL on my first glance at the webpage.A few HTML coding bugs on the job search pages etc...)
But this could be a good oppertunity. You did not state what your internship would entail but it appears to be website coding if you are applying for that position.
So it appears they need what you have to offer. Could end up just being college credits. Or could be a good thing. At least go for the interview. Then decide.
Many large companies started small.

I guess I will do the interview, I will keep this as my extreme backup incase I don't get any other offers

well if unpaid is not a big issue to you, def do it if nothing else comes along.
You ALWAYS want to have an internship or two under your belt.

I got the internship and after taking the interview it got me much more interested in the company(they revamped the whole site-looks awesome) and they have a lot of big plans coming up soon.

but I also got an interview at TelTech corporation and its paid...theyre a successful mobile app developer(TrapCall,Spoofcard) the thing is it takes an hour to get there.

promising startup company(college credits,20 minute drive)
vs
well known app developing company(1 hour drive, possibly 15$ an hour)

decisions..decisions...

make a list of important features and assign rating to each one.

as you can see there's plenty of opportunities in the world

Probably going to take my schools IT job.
I get paid, its close by, and I get to continue to work while in the school year also.
Plus itll be easier to get other on campus IT jobs.

Money and close proximity are huge factors for me

nevermind, im taking the internship
i can get an on-campus IT job anytime but internships only come in summer,
plus my schools IT job wasn't what I thought it would be and I didn't feel comfortable in the environment compared to uvisor.

Go for it!

One thing to keep in mind as well a lot of companies give interns job offers once they graduate college...This makes me think TelTech is the way to go because the small startup may not exist (or be able to offer a job), and your college most likely won't offer you a job.
