ASUS P8Z77-V Problem. Finds hard drive, but not DVD-ROM

Building a new system. MB finds HD, but not DVD.

Have you connected it to one of the blue (not navy blue) SATA ports?

If you are absolutely sure that the optical drive is connected properly, try a different optical drive if you can lay your hands on one, even a plain old cd drive, just for troubleshooting purposes. That will help to establish whether or not your optical drive is internally faulty.

did you connect the sata power cable to it. on most new efi mb the cd-rom show up under cd-roms no hard drives in the boot menu now. (they show up as there model number and word efi after it).
