Thanks alot.
Tiger Drirect has some open box specials on the 5770 that make it only $100
cf'd 5770s or a 6770/5770 CF will place your gpu performance between a 6870 and 6950. with the AA turned off, you should be able to run BF3 at high/ultra settings with that setup
i have two MSI 5770s in crossfire and i get good performance, if you want to know how fast it will perform, just look at a 5870 , a 5770 is basically a 5870 cut in half and when you put two 5770s together, you basically get a 5870 in a nut shell
Hi , i was wondering if this upgrade is worth the money. my current graphics controller (= xfx HD 5770)
next = xfx HD6870 dual fan.
Iam going to play battlefield 3 and i do want high FPS and nice quality but i have only €180.
Is it smart to buy a XFX HD6870 Dual fan. And is it a good improvement?
You don't buy fans. You buy an actual GPU. What's your screen resolution? If it's anything lower than 1080p or so then it'll be able to max out. What's the rest of your specs.
Actually, 5770 CF can be a bit better than the 5870 - I got some unigine benchmarks around 15% higer with the dual. Don't know how demanding would BF3 be, but if 5870 can play it, so will the build you're thinking about.

I'd say you're better off adding a second 5770 or a 6770 to run in cross fire. Even so a 6870 would be a pretty good upgrade for you, but you may want to consider spending a little more on a 560ti or even a 6950.
a 6770 is a 5770 with soft/firmware updates and fully compatible in CF. put them together and OC them a bit (5-10%) and you should be able to obtain similar if not identical performance to a 6950 1gb/ 560ti at 40% of the price.
