Sudden loss of power to monitor

Hello,
I was working on my pc. Everything seemed fine. Did not turn anything off but returned several hours later and the monitor has no power. The lights across the bottom are off. I have unplugged and replugged both cables in it Also,l powered off the entire computer to let it "rest" overnight but still not power! Ideas? Thanks

Can you plug something else into the same outlet that you plugged the monitor into and see if it is getting power? If that alternative device works then you may either have a bad power cord or somehow your monitor broke. Do you have access to a voltmeter or multimeter?

This may seem dumb but a couple quick checks.

1) Is the moniter plug firmly in place?
2) Is the computer in sleep mode? (again sounds dumb but I can't tell you how many people come in here saying their computer won't "wake up" from sleep mode" or they think its a monitor problem
3) Is the computer and monitor all plugged into the same power source? If so is the power on the computer working?

If you have another PC, try connecting the monitor to it, if it doesn't power up, you got a dead monitor. If it powers up, then there is something wrong with your PC.
