MSI GeForce GT 520 1 GB Deal on Tiger Direct

Tiger Direct is currently having a sale on the MSI GeForce GT 520 N520GT-MD1GD3/LP Video Card - 1GB, GDDR3, PCI-Express 2.0 (x16), 1x Dual-Link DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA, DirectX 11, Single-Slot Low Profile graphics card for a measly $20. I was thinking of upgrading from my current 512 MB GeForce 8600GT. Would it be worth it?

  1. 10-15 % performance increase i believe.
    But if you use it for gaming i would take something stronger.
  2. What about a XFX PVT96OYHFC GeForce 9600 GSO Video Card - 512MB, DDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, HDMI, DVI, DirectX 10 for 16 dollars? Better deal?
  3. For 16 dollars i think it's better.
  4. Approximate improvement percentage over the GT 520?
  5. Have to google that. Back later.
  6. You rule, robjordy.
  7. Tell me wife. Wait, don't have one :D

    Didn't find a gt520 comparrison yet, did find something tho on the difference between the 8600gt vs the 9600gso. It's a 384 mb version, so the one with 512 will even be a bit better.
  8. How about a GT 250 for $50 bucks?
    And would an upgrade to a Core 2 E6850 for $70 be a good deal?
  9. Gt250 for 50 sounds as a good deal. 1Gb version ? If it's 512 mb this is better for 30 bucks ;
    You can also think about a 450 ; , 60 dollar whith rebate. performance around the same or better. but the 450 has dx11 and runs cooler and is less powerhungry.
    Don't know much about processor prices but if i compare it with this than no. But really don't know about that, maybe intel is more expensive, no clue what so ever.
  10. I'd actually go for an AMD processor for loyalty reasons.
    Screw you Intel :D
    Yeah, it's the GT 250. I think I'll invest in a processor for now, the 8600 GT can run Deus Ex Human Revolution and Dead Island on medium settings actually. Goddamn single-core processor D:
  11. yes, upgrade your single core cpu. but the gts250 is great value also but would be pretty useless with a single core cpu.
