What would run better? 260gtx (216) SLI or 460gtx

I currently have 2 9600sgo 512's (:pfff: Now for the same price i can get either 2 260gtx 216 to run sli or 1 460gtx Money is a huge issue so i do not see a 2nd 460gtx in the future. I plan to play battle field 3 mw3 and skyrim and maintain my 400+fpsin mw1 lol

More about what better 260gtx 460gtx
  1. I play in 1360 x 768
  2. these future games will support and/or require directx11 compatible cards.. the 460 has DX11 ... the 260's do not.
  3. the 1gb 460gtx
  4. Whats better the 460gtx or 550 ti?
  5. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945 i suggest this card for those very demanding graphical games
  6. Not sure if u need to know but ill be running windows 7 (64-bit) 6gb ram intel core 2 quad q6600 (quad core 2.4)
  7. thats about $50 over budget (extremely tight budget) and i prefer nvidia over ati no logical reasoning behind it its just the whole pepsi over coke thing lol
  8. Get a 460 or a 560ti. The 6950 might be overkill with that cpu.
  9. at that resolution the gtx460 will be fine. and it has dx11 support which the 260 doesnt. the 460gtx is much faster than the 550ti
  10. (460 gtx is a zotac and 550 ti is nvidia brand)
  11. Where do you want to order from ?
  12. im just going to use ebay =P
  13. or possibly newegg not a huge price dif
  14. If i had the money i would just get a 590gtx BUT i dont really feel its worth elling everything i own for! lol
  15. No new ones no. Think newegg might be better with service and stuff. Not sure, i'm obviously not from the USA.
    Maybe ; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121391
  16. So from what im seeing the 460gtx is my best bet for around $150?
  17. Well, altough Zotac is not bad, the service and warrenty with the Asus is much better. It's only 5 bucks more ( with rebate ) so.
  18. For nvidia (Not too intereted in ati unless it was way better in every aspect for same price =P)
  19. Yeah, or a HD 6850, i believe it's a little better than a 460. :D
  20. Right, posted that before i did read that.
  21. now is the hd 6850 better than 460gtx? if so in what ways?
  22. Well tyvvvvvvvvvvvvm for all your help 460gtx it is!
  23. The GTX 460 will not perform as well as a GTX 260 SLI setup, but it has DX11, and you now have a future upgrade path.
  24. Where can you even GET a 260 core 216 anymore?
  25. I'd go with 2x 260gtx, dx11 not that great
  26. These are the games that support dx 11
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_11_support
Do you want to sacrifice performance for dx 11?Is it worth it?Then go for 460
If you want superior performance in every game go for 260 SLI.It would actually perform near a gtx 480

In any case you should know that the 460 is not fast enough to run dx 11.Crysis 2 won't run in dx 11 on gtx 460 max.In fact it struggles on max settings dx 9.On that same game 260 SLI would destroy it.Metro 2033?Just forget dx 11.Again 260 SLI would perform better.Only get the 460 if you can SLI it or go for 260 SLI.
  27. But dude seriously, you probly wont even need that much power at that resolution. I have one GTX 260 (not core 216) with a stock speed 2500k and I get highest settings minus filtering and vsync in almost all games at 1080p. If money is such a big deal for you, I dont think you should go overboard for a 1360 x 768 setup.

Just my opinion. Of course, SLIing two 260 216s would be awesome, but you would also need a very powerful PSU, plus later you have the problem of selling 2 old cards, instead of one not so old one.

EDIT: I was too stupid to read that the choice was already made, but oh well, I wasnt advocating buying the SLI setup anyway. :-) Good choice!

Those are very common on eBay right now but if you want to try for something much harder then try a gtx 280 or a gtx 285.

yeah.the 200 series still kicks ass in almost all games. My gtx 275 plays crysis 1,metro 2033 and crysis 2 maxed.goes to show what the pc is capable of. :sol:
  30. I enjoy the use of two gtx 280 in sli atm, nothing holds them back ;)

    Whats your rig specs?
  32. gtx 260 is a very good card.but in truth, its totally outdated. go for geforce gtx 460 1 gb card n u will not be disappointed.dx 11 features will give u more realistic gaming feel as well.nowadays all latest games support dx11 and believe it or not, dx10 cards will also be little to no longer in use by the time 2012 ends.so go for gtx 460 to enjoy latest games and also be "future proof". after that in future, if want to upgrade, sli the card to get kick ass performance.
