What level of PSU do I require?

I have been having a bizare series of errors on my machine for a fair while now, BSOD, random driver and software failures, and file corruption. I suspect it might be my PSU.

What kind of PSU would peoples suggest for the following.

CPU E6300
MB G33M-s2
RAM 8gig DDR2
Video GTX 550 Ti
1 Old 320gb IDE HDD
1 2tb Baracuda Green
IDE DVD R/W

Currently running a 420w Thermal Master that came with the case, thankyou for your time.

make sure you get a power supply with 12v continuous current with over 24amp rating, the wattage isn't too important, definately get atleast 400w for your setup but look into the 12v output and make sure its over 24amps and you should be fine. You wont have a problem with that if you get a reputable brand name thats 400+ watts.

Had you made any changes about the time the problems started?
How old is that PSU?

Upgraded the graphics card, that made it a lot worse.

Absolute minimum that I would use is an Antec 380 watt Earthwatts PSU.

Decent 400w is good enough, yip the Earthwatts 380D or 430D

Are the Antec VP series ok? The smallest Earthwatts my usual supplier is selling is 650W. There is a 450W VP listed and a 520W High Current Gamer Powersupply.

Also what is the advantage of Dual Rail 12 volt?

Also back to your main problem, have you tried uninstalling the drivers for your graphics card and reinstalling them? This problem sounds software related.

Many reinstallations of various Drivers including graphics cards and clean installations of Windows 7. The problems where present prior to the Graphics card upgrade they became more common following it.
