I have an Optiplex 755 SFF with an integraded graphics card. I'd like to upgrade with the MSI 5670 GDDR5 512MB low profle card. To support that I plan to also upgrade the PSU with a TFX Athena 400W. My worry is will it fit. My real concern is with the width of the card in relation with the dual fans. Is my concern valid and if so can you recommend another card of equal performance. Thank you...

I have the slim desktop 745 which I believe is bigger than the SFF
the fan assembly of MSI card (have same one)
wouldnt fit because of the CPU heatsink and fan
so I cut the double fan assembly in half with needle nose pliers
and modded the assembly to fit
the 745 and 755 are very similar computers
so probably will be a very difficult fit for the HD 5670
also the PSU if it is ATX will not fit

consider getting a new case to move upgrades to

Perhaps just scale down slightly to an HD6570?

I've looked at the MSI GeForce GT 430 and the MSI Radeon HD 6570 DDR3 1GB. The way the fans are configured on either of the cards seems to have a smaller profile in terms of thickness/width.

also the opti 755 can use a riser cage

almost forgot about that
you lose a pci slot but the pci cards go sideways in cage
that would let you use even full size cards
worth a try

Hey, can you explain how this riser cage works? You said it will allow you to run even full size cards? I'm actually just looking to fit in an HD 6670.. will I be able to fit that card in my optiplex 755 with the rise cage installed?

the riser cage plugs into the PCIe slot but goes sideways to fit into the case
so yes a full size card will fit
works with the desktop size version of the Optiplex 755
plenty of them on Ebay USA
just search "Optiplex 755 riser"
