Which sound card should I use?

Hey everyone a few days ago a friend of mine gave me his old sound card. Its an Audigy 2 ZS; currently I have this:

I record a lot through the reguler microphone input for my school projects and its absoultly garbage. For output I have no complaints.

Which card is better for recording? And please give me proof like specs and stuff explain why.

I don't think it matters at all. The sound card really shouldn't have any effect at all on the quality of input. I blame your microphone. Try both, preferably with someone else doing the switching so you don't know which is working. I'll bet you won't be able to tell the difference.
