Fractal define r3 build, best case fans?

okay well its finally time to order my parts. i need help choosing fans. i plan on matching the scheme of the 2 fans the case comes with. white fan blades and a black base. i want them from a higher end company, might just order some fractal fans. need links for 120mm and 140mm fans. i would only need one 120mm and i might just use my spare cooler master plain black fan for the back exhaust.

4 fans will do for now, 2 intake [the 2x120 fractals included with case] and 2 exhaust [1x120 back and 1x140 top] and get the other 2 140s later [1 top 1 bottom between hdd rack and psu]

case: fractal define r3 pearl black [going to mod a window on it and hide the psu and modular cables]

might also use some 3pin bitfenix extensions/splitters/adapters in black and use white bitfenix sata and sata power cables for just my optical and use regular cables for the hdds since they are hidden behind the rack

the parts i already have from my old build are:
i5-2500k
gigabyte z68x-ud3p-b3
8 gigs ripjaw matched ram
850w raidmax modular psu
gtx480
crucial m4 64gig ssd
and other stuff

i have 100% decided on the fractal case, 85% on bitfenix cable extensions, for fans i havent decided yet but i will use 140s instead of 120s wherever i can. obviously i am going for a black and white build, i was thinking about doing black and red which is my current theme on my haf 912 case, but black and white looks incredibly sexy

advice for a heat sink that doesnt break the bank but will match my theme is greatly appreciated. i have a zalman right now [it sucks, newegg was out of 212s], thinking about an antec h2o 620

  1. What Zalman do you have?

I was gonna recommend the 212+(Hard to beat for the price) Have you shopped from NCIX before?

As for fans, The stock fans are fairly quiet, but do have a slight bit of motor or bearing noise.

I used Thermalright X-Silent 140's for my case, but at full speed they are not quiet(but it may be the case grille it self being restrictive).

140mm fans with white blades/black frames are not all that common.

White fans on the other hand
    120mm

I was also sure i had seen some Silverstone white fans too.

NCIX in Canada sells that fractal fans, not not the US site for some reason.

One thing to note is that quiet fans do not perform as well since they move less air.
  2. the only place I can find that has fractal fans is ebay and the best priced ones are from the uk. I saw some nzxt 140s, ill read up on the reviews

I'm not sure what zalman I have, not very happy with it though.

read up on the subject, 120s move the same amount of air but are twice noisy as a 140.

    how tasteful is my build?

Your parts look good(great system for games). Never used a raidmax psu, but as long as it works, its all good.

Not sure if i would go 2x as loud, but louder, yes since it is smaller and has to spin faster. Nothing was like the jump from 80mm case fans to 120's

Does your case have a window? My Define R2 did not(for me, that was good).

If you get those sleeved cable extensions, let me know how good the flex is. I can see some place for them
  4. the raidmax was well rated and inexpensive plus it came in a toolbox.

it doesn't have a window, I was going to make one.
  5. I have BitFenix extension cables, they're very high quality.

    Remember to post pictures.

FinneousPJ, Is the 24-pin good and flexible? I had to put quite a bend(no not think it hurt it, but it had to be rather sharp) in the 24 pin on my HX850, that may have saved me some work.

It's very flexible. As you can see from pictures, it's made of individually sleeved cables.

Yeah that is the pic that made me think it would have been better then tie wrapping my cable to force it to go around a tight corner.

By the same right, i think corsair used very large cabled or something, i have bent power supply cables with more ease then this one.
  9. the only way i can make the extensions work is if i make a psu hider box, there is very little room between the mobo tray and side panel. the cable management on the fractal case isnt as good as my old cooler master, but cooler master is the best in the game when it comes to that. oh well.

unfortunately i have to hold off on getting fans and extensions, need to replace the ring and pinion for the rear axle in my suzuki samurai =/
