Help please,BF3 has been out for awhile and tryin to build a new pc for this and skyrim.I've read till my eyeballs are bleeding I had a system picked out but then read that the AMD fx's sucked and the way to go is Intell, is this true?

Approximate Purchase Date: tonight or tommorrow just like to get it here by next week

Budget Range:$900-1000 but like to keep it as low as I can

System Usage from Most to Least Important:Gaming, web

Parts Not Required: I have a ATI Radeon 6950 2 gb dirt 3 edition card and a 27"led 1080p monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Country: North America

Parts Preferences: No Preferences just as long as it plays BF3 with no problems

Overclocking: Not now but maybe down the road

SLI or Crossfire: Not now but maybe down the road

Monitor Resolution:maxed

Additional Comments: I like to use a cooler master haf 922 case.like I said I had picked out a fx-8150 on a asus sabertooth mobo till I did some reading around.

Thanks

You really shouldn't use an AMD CPU with BF3 or at least use an AMD Phenom II instead of an FX CPU because FX will bottleneck your FPS significantly at high settings.

That and the Intel i5-2500k is both cheaper and faster than the FX 8150, so it will cost less to give you more.

For gaming? No. i7 has hyperthreading, which is completely useless in terms of anything other than rendering, video editing, and other such purposes. Save money, get the i5.

Unless you do video editing and rendering. In which case, highly recommended.

yea, dont bother with an i7, waste of a hundred bucks for gaming, you could even probably go with an i3 CPU for gaming, they are only dual core but they pack a punch, from tests they can outgame even phenom2 x6 CPUs. and for any sandybridge (i5, i3, i7, etc) you need an LGA 1155 mobo, probably a p67 or z68 if you are going to use a video card anyway, and z68 is expencive but you can use ivy and i think the gen after that in er too if you ever feel the need.

Here's a build you'll be pleased with built around a Haf 922 from newegg that will allow overclocking and xfire. Since we came in a little under budget you may want to swap the power supply for something that will handle 2x 6950s out of the gate (I chose the Antec in the build because it is a good power supply on sale today).

This thread (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/298816-28-2500k-dual-6950s) went for a Corsair HX850 power supply for a 2500K and dual 6950s (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011&Tpk=hx850&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4176827&SID=j01jazkk7kxi)

Hope you love your new computer and have a blast with BF3 and Skyrim!

Since you want to play BF3 the i3 would be too slow. Your best bet would be the i5-2500k because it doesn't bottleneck the game. Anything faster will not improve performance for that reason.

Pair it with a P67 or Z68 motherboard.

EDIT: I'll recommend the above build due to my failure to find problems with it, +1 to phensen.
