I keep getting a CPU over temperature error press f1 to run setup and a beep plus 4 beeps. i triple checked all the parts as i put them in and plugged them in and i didn't have this problem the first time i turned it on, it was a blue screen that i couldn't read because i can't turn off automatic restart.


my new comp:
ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
Intel i5-2500k
Geforce 480 GTX
Corsair Vengeance 8gb RAM
PC Power 750w silencer psu
windows 7 32-bit

using the stock one, going into the bios shows the cpu temp at like 75, but it goes down to like 50 when in the bios. Also, i have no idea how to setup my cdrom for the new mobo, my old one has a HDD cable that it uses to work. :heink:
 
The default one shud be fine if not OC'ing....are the 4 posts in all the way ? And yes, if you removed it after reapplying, it has a thermal pad and won't reseat well on a reinstall......clean both CPU and HS off with isoprophyly alcohol and reapply thermal paste. Can't do better than this:

Yes it was a new install, the cpu and motherboard were new, also the case does have adequate ventilation. As for the thermal paste and heatsink, I'm probably going to just buy some paste and not OC it until I get it working to my liking and I figured the cd rom drive was too old for this new motherboard. I forgot to mention that the four posts did go in smoothly and I couldn't move it so I assumed it was in properly.
