Higher Resolution vs. Features

Not sure exactly where to put this, but I have been experimenting with this scenario for a bit. I would just like to see what others think. I have found that using a higher resolution with everything turned off (AA, Blur, Post Process, Dynamic Shadows, etc...) produces a better result than everything turned on at a lower resolution. I've pretty much settled with using a mid-resolution (1680 x 1050) and turning on most everything except AA. The result for me is similar with most games, and I play mainly first person shooters. I find that higher resolutions don't even require AA because the pixels are small enough to make it totally irrelevant. I think 1680 x 1050 is the line at which you can simply bypass it.

So I guess what I'm wondering is if these extra features are really worth it? It seems to me that as long as you have a decent monitor capable of high resolutions, and a graphics card to match, the extra features don't really add much.
