IDE connector

Morning,

I have an old 478 motherboard. The secondary IDE connector is faulty. Currently I have my CD-rom and hard drive piggy backing the same cable but I would like to add another drive to my setup. Is there any way to verify if I have a broken pin or some damage with a fluke meter? I dont see any visual damage. I know someone who can do the solder work. I just dont want to waste her time if its a board issue.
