I spilt water on my PC. I turned it off opened it up and tried to dry the few wet parts.

when i turned it back on it sent me to a screen telling me that there had been a power surge :(

however, i could still boot my pc and login and use internet from the bios. however the next time i turned it on it has done the same thing.

i am now to scared to turn my PC back on in fear of ruining it for good.
any ideas?

ps. the power suply was show 24V for the 12v rail in the bios :o

Leave your computer open for a day or so, preferably in a hot, but not humid, room so that it can dry out. Drying it out by hand doesn't remove every last drop of water that flowed in under a component or inside a connector.

After that, try starting it again. If the water was causing some short circuit but the protection circuits in the computer could handle it then you hopefully won't have any more problems.

If you're not so lucky, then you'll have to replace whatever you spilled water on.

Pour a lot of rice into the PC.

Rice sucks up all the water anywhere remotely close to it.

The moisture literally gets sucked toward it.

After 2 days, dump the rice out and it will be working fine if you didn't already do serious damage to the hardware.
