I need help. I just built my first computer and literally everything works great except for my ram.... it says in windows i have 8gb but only 3.92 is usable

I installed the windows 8 oem (system builder) 64 BIT!!!! so im positive it is a 64 bit, i also have the m5a99fx pro R2.0 motherboard and I updated to the most recent bios (i think).

I already went into system config and unchecked max memory.

bios says I have 4096mb ram but in the dimm slot overview its says the 2 slots are taken.

I have 2 gskill ARES ddr3-1866 4096mb sticks but I don't think its a compatibility issue....so I'm stumped!!! please help!!

Have you tried to decrease the timings? There are some restrictions for ram frequency on a amd CPU. You have to reset the bios and set the ram settings manually.
Put the ram in the black slots, boot into bios, set the ram settings and save the settings.
