New build wont post

So I just finished putting together my new build and I start it up and everything powers up normally, but nothing shows up on my monitor and after a minute my graphics card starts spinning really fast and loudly. I guess I probably should have breadboarded the whole thing first to check for problems, but is there anything that might be causing this, that I could fix without having to take it all apart? What is weird is that when I remove the DVI cord from my PC, the monitor seems to acknowledge this and says no DVI or something, even though when it is plugged in it acts like nothing is plugged in. Just off the top of my head it seems like there is a problem with my graphics card but maybe there is just something I am missing.

CPU - i5-2500k
motherboard - ASRock z68 extreme3gen3
ram - GSkill ripjaws 8gb
GPU - Gigabyte 6950oc
PSU - Rosewill Hive 550 w
monitor - ASUS VW246H

The graphics card. There are two different DVI ports, I think its DVI-I and DVI-D.

1. 8 pin EPS cable (or 4 pin ATC) not plugged in

2. Power cables to GFX card not plugged in

3. CPU fan not plugged into correct MoBo header

4. Monitor OSD not used to select DVI or whatever cable is actually plugged in

Well, you can eliminate the graphics card by using the motherboard video connector.

Most of the Rosewill PSU's are on the poor side of mediocre.
