Hi, I am thinking about getting Battlefield 3, and I wanna know if my system can handle battlefield 3.

Processor: AMD Phenom ii X4 955 3.2 GHZ (I can overclock to ~3.8 GHZ)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H50

Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB DDR3

GPU: Sapphire Radeon 4870 512mb (I can overclock Core by 100 MHZ and increase memory speed by around 100-200 MHZ)

GPU Cooler: Arctic Accelero Xtreme

Storage: Zalman 64GB Solid State Drive (Read Speed ~220-250 MB/S, Write Speed ~80-100 MB/S)

Power Supply: CoolMax 600W

Case: ThermalTake V3 Gaming Chassis

I'm going to be playing at 1280x720 resolution.

Please tell me an approximate FPS and settings I can play at. I currently have Crysis 2, and I get around 70+ FPS at 1280x720 Gamer settings and ~40 FPS at Hardcore. Is Crysis 2 more demanding than Battlefield 3 or vice versa?

Thanks for your time!

With that quad core I think you should be OK at 1280x720 on medium settings. I'm guessing Crysis 2 without dx11 and hi res pack is slightly less demanding than BF3 so I think you should be able to play it.

stop posting BS.I own a gtx 275 which is slightly more powerful and I was able to play bf3 beta on high settings 1680X1050 with constant 30+fps.He will MAX OUT BF3 at that rez
@OP:Your system will max out bf3 at that resolution

Upgrade your graphics card and then your set. Otherwise it seems your system is fine....

Will I be able to get 60 FPS at 1280 x 720 NOT lowest settings?

With that graphics card probably not. It depends on what API you want to play at.

Just try the game first before buying anything. If you were at 1680x1050 or higher, I would say low settings. IMO, you have a very good chance of playing on high or better with your set up.

I tell you right now that H50 cooler is inadequate.

I expect nothing less than a H100, 212 or one of the big Zalmans.

You can run the game... maybe say alive long enough to kill an opponet... but you will have to play the game and find out.

The 5770 is not much faster than the 4870, a little is all.

What are you talking about? I SAID he should be OK at 1280x720 at medium settings, and I meant 50 or 60+ fps. Of course he can try to set the graphics a little higher and it will still be fine but noticeable worse performance.

Don't play BF3 and you'll be a lot happier:)

You do realize that consoles run at exact same resolution on medium settings and get 30 fps.The 4870 is light years away from the console gpu in terms of power. He will net 50+ fps at near max easily with that resolution.Hell,I just tried crysis 1 and metro 2033 and BOTH RAN MAXED WITH AA WITH 40+ FPS AT THAT RESOLUTION.He should have no problem at that resolution.FYI NVIDIA themselves benchmarked the game and stated the 460 could run at high settings at 1680X1050.At 1280X720 which is nearly half that resolution, the fps will double and hence the 4870 can easily get 50+ fps at max
