After much thought (and little research) I think I have my build down.

It is more than I wanted to spend so please take a look and tell me what you think.

I do not need a large HDD cause I have a few sitting around I can use that's why there is none listed, but I did want an SSD. If you see where i can shave a few bucks or if something is bad pls let me know.

I have 16GB of ram cause I run several VMs and I don't think 8 will suit me.

I need to order these today to get this build done before the new year.

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $99.00

MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) $229

Antec EarthWatts Series EA-750 Green 750W $90

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 $89

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard $124

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz $220

OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) $169

LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - OEM $17.99

Need recommendations on an aftermarket HSF

Guess I am going with this:

Total cost with shipping minus rebates = $1085
All prices are neweggs.

I would love to bring this under 1 grand however if there is something alot better than what I have listed for more than I would consider it.

Pls help.. need to order these parts today.

I don't run VMs but it was always my understanding that more cores + more memory = more VMs. The i5-2500k is a gaming processor that doesn't support hyperthreading. This means you're getting 4 cores and nothing else. I dunno, seems like a 2600k (4/4HT) or a 8 core AMD might be the way to go.

There are ways to trim your budget. Antec 300 Illusion, 6870, 500w PSU, Non-SLI mobo, 212+ ect. Just depends on where your focus is.

nice build
you can run 8vms simultaneously with this machine (sun xvm virtual box), that too without any lag
