Hi, just some clarification needed. As there are no details on the corsair website about the HX psu's searched a bit and found this:

" There are a total of nine cable sets for the HX520W:

Permanently connected:

* 19" cable for main 20+4-pin ATX connector
* 19" cable for 4x12V EPS12V
* 19" cable for 2x12V AUX12V

Detachable:

* 2 x 21" cable for 6-pin PCIe connector
* 2 x 31" cable with three 4-pin IDE drive connectors
* 1 x 16" cable with two 4-pin IDE drive connectors
* 6" 4-pin IDE to two 12V only 4-pin IDE connectors (meant for fans)
* 6" 4-pin IDE to two floppy drive power connectors
* 2 x 25" cables with two SATA drive connectors

The HX620W comes with two more 25" cables with two SATA drive connectors for a total of 11 detachable cables. "
(http://www.silentpcreview.com/article692-page2.html)

Both have 2 x 6 pin PCIe connectors (however in another fairly recent review corsair now has 2 x 6+2 pcie connectors. Forgot the link).

The only limiting factor (apart from power) for the 520W HX is the 4 sata drive connectors (8 on th 620hx). But since these psu's are modular, can one get extra sata cables to connect more than 4 sata drive on the 520 hx?

Yes, if you can find more of those cables they will work....since all the connectors are the same(The sata molex ect are the same)....

you can also just get a molex to sata adapter to get more sata power if you need it....

ok cool. Thanks for the big clarification :). Cause right now,

IMMEDIATE plan is to have at least 3 sata devices (includes dvd writer), 1 GPU (8800gt), (intel e6xxx OR e8xxx - havnt decided yet), GA p35 ds3r, 2gb Ram (corsair pc6400).

SHORT term plans then to have at least 4 sata drives (raid0) and overclock reasonably (gpu and cpu).

LONG term plans (1 year + ), Quad core, new mobo so can have sli/crossfire, at least 5-6 sata devices, 4gb Ram.

Want to invest in a good psu (nothing to extreme in price terms though). And corsair seems to fit the bill. Will just see if the 520watt one is more than enough for my plans :).
