Okay, here is a question that many will probably think non-worthy or trivial, but - how many stepping revisions has, say the 2500K gone through? Mine that I purchased in November reads as "D2" in CPUID, so does that mean that someone that purchased their chip in, April of last year has a different stepping? I occasionally hear vague references to CPU steppings, but when I google it, I can't find a definitive resource listing the past and present steppings of a given processor. It seems like stepping revisions are semi-important because they may correct bugs or other things, but they are never announced, yet some seem to know about them through some weird insider info.

Ah, yes, I see that some processors only have one stepping throughout their lifetime. The 2500K has always been "D2", I believe, while the 3930K for instance has both C1 and C2 revisions. It seems mobile chips have a greater number of revisions.
