Guys I have a MSI Geforce GTX 550 ti and need a monitor to pair with it.
I was thinking of getting a 1600x900 resolution monitor. The card will max out pretty much anything but the most demanding games at that resolution. I know i won't be able to max out everything at this resolution in the newest games like BF3 and Arkham City I think the card will pretty much max everything out at 1360x768.

So my question is: Should i get a 1600x900 resolution monitor (20 inch) and run the really demanding games at a lower resolution with settings maxed out or will the games look bad at less than the native resolution. Also, would medium settings on 16x9 be better than max on 1360x768? And will gaming in a monitor of native resolution 1360x768 be better than gaming in a monitor of native 16x9 lowered to 1360x768?

Quote:
Get a higher res monitor, even if u dont have all the eyecandy on , the images will still look better at a higher resolution, simple because u're packing more pixels onto the screen.

and always game at ur monitor's native resolution. it just looks a hell lot better

okay, but would a lower res on a low native res monitor be better than the same res on a monitor having a higher res?

So 1600x900 would be a good fit for my GTX 550 ti, right?

The gtx 550 maxes out evry game out there a that rez.If you buy a 1080p monitor you will have to turn down settings in hyper demanding games like crysis, battlefield 3 etc but you will get a bigger size image and more quality.Personally.I tried playing at 1600X900 on my 1680X1050 monitor and it still looked good.I say go for the 16X9 monitor because in reality the size difference bteween it and 1080p is only 4 inches and you would be able to max out all games out there.
