I got a health christmas bonus and am looking to build a new computer. It needs to be VERY capable for gaming and needs to run CS5, video editing, etc. What you think? I haven't built a system in years so any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone? I know its and expensive build but is everything compatible? Are the choices a good fit? Would you buy something different if you were building it? Thanks for any comments.

I would not spend more than $200 on a motherboard, nor would I get more than 16GB of RAM. I'd also bump down to the 2600k. It will handle everything you throw at it and I doubt you'll need the 3930, but maybe others will argue differently. You can put the savings towards another monitor, keyboard, mouse, speaker/headset, etc.

Elayman, thank you so much for your thoughts and input. I have been wrestling with some of the issues you mentioned. Specifically, the 3930k vs the 2600k. Could you recommend a solid motherboard for the 2600k? Also, I forgot to mention that I have the peripherals, ie. keyboard, mouse, etc.

I think these two are recommended often. Since you aren't on a strict budget I won't recommend ASRock, but others recommend those as well (though I think Asus and Gigabyte are better brands).

Don't take just my word on it though. I'd wait on some others to either agree or disagree with me. I'm not very knowledgable of the 6 core CPUs, so maybe someone with experience can chime in.
