Received replacement mobo from asus. Installed and tries to boot. I got a cpu over voltage error upon boot. First I tried to reset bios.. no go. Updated bios to 4003, reset cmos, checked psu. nothing worked to fix problem. Voltage should be 1.22 volts. Cpu voltage jumps between 1.6 and 1.8 volts. All voltages from psu within spec... both shown in bios and upon manual multimeter testing. Never overclocked cpu or memory. Tried resetting to defaults in bios and turning all overclocking options off in bios.. same issue persists. Any ideas before I RMA this "new" board back to asus...again? Thanks for your help.

I have seen this before when trying to swap mobos. You may have bent some of the cpu pins or like you said, the "new" mobo may be bad. Those are the only two things I have seen happen IF you are unable to resolve the overvoltage error by resetting the CMOS. Did you use the jumper/button to reset the CMOS or remove the battery and hold the power button for like 10 seconds? If not try that.

I removed the battery for two days... but only because I have been busy with school. Will remove cpu and check for bent pins, but the socket looked ok upon general inspection before installing chip.

The jumper for resetting the CMOS looks something like this:

If you have school and other things going on I wouldn't troubleshoot too much further, make them send you another one.
