I'm pretty much only on the gamefaq boards now, since that's like one
of the biggest. I used to be on the magicbox board cause that's mostly
an import gaming board, but there aren't many ppl there

it's tied into it. low support->fewer RPG players->unattractive
demographics->low support. It's a cycle. Demographics isn't the cause,
but rather an effect.

there are 2 possible explainations: 1) lack of games they like, or 2)
they just don't like American consoles period. If it's the former, MS
can do something about it, if it's the latter, there's really not much
MS can do since you can't force people to buy your console

Difficult to say. DOA3 sold a mere 200K in Japan. I could've sworn DOA2
sold more than that (not sure.. no #s).

because in general the Japanese developer business model is based on
exclusives, not multiplatform. It always has been. The vast majority of
Japanese developed games are exclusives, just as the vast majority of
NA developed games are multiplatform. It's just two different ways of
doing business. They'd rather spend the extra effort in porting in
coming up with a new game. I personally like their model more because
it means more turnover of games. On the whole Japanese developers are
more productive because they don't have to worry about spending the
time porting it. From the NA gamer perspective, it's sometimes not as
easy to see this, that's because only a fraction of what the developers
make actually makes it out of Japan, I would say a good 1/3 to 1/2 of
them never make it out of the country.

The first true jRPG (I think) on a XBOX console, developed by FF
creator Sakaguchi, who was exiled from SE for producing the bomb that
is Spirit Within. Sakaguchi left, formed his own studio Mistwalker, and
is now 3rd party. Blue Dragon is also suppose to feature the artwork of
Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame. This may push some consoles in
Japan.

well.. on the whole my talking about it has increased (though not in
usenet) somewhat but is still fairly constant. I'm trying to clear some
backlogs of games sitting here, unfortunately when a game takes over 20
hours, and you work full time, it's kinda hard. Finished God of War,
Digital Devil Saga 2 recently and I'm trying to work my way through
Shining Force, about 36 hours in.
