PC won;t boot when GPU is plugged in

Hello,
I just built my first computer today for Christmas and I have a problem. I have an Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 motherboard with 8gb of RAM and an Asus GPU. When I plug in the power to the GPU and boot, the CPU fan revs and then nothing. No display, no post. Then fans run but nothing else. When I unplug the GPU, the PC boots fine and runs perfect. But I want my GPU! Help?
