Need Help

CPU fan starts for second stop, wait a minute than goes for about minute than fan starts to slow down than stops wait a minut than spins for second and stops.

The Motherboard is a A75M-UD2H Gigabyte Mb, A 3650 AMD processor, 16 gb of Kingston Hyper memory, Cooler master Hyper 212 plus heat sink, 750w power supply. The paste I used was Cermaquie 2 put dot on cpu and two lines on heat sink and put it together all wires are connected and did as I usually do, so tried many things anyone know what this might be. Let me know

To me that sounds like a little bit to much thermal paste. Did you connect the two power cables the 24 pin and the 8 pin to the motherboard.

I connected the 24 pin and 4 pin is there a 8 pin connector on motherboards I didn't see one. Hmm too much paste. I put the dot system on cpu like rice size and spread it with a old credit card and two medium size lines on heat sink did not spread on heat sink connected and rotated a few times. On a side note the heat sink fan is is facing the expansion card area and not memory is that alright or should I move it toward memory I know I had a hard time putting in last memory module.

The orientation of the CPU Heatsink does not normally matter. I might be a 4pin on your motherboard. Did you triple check you graphics card? Make sure the screen cable is connected and it's firmly in place? If this still does not post then I might start thinking it's a problem with a component.

Both the 4 pin and 24 pin are connected the graphics are on board there are no cards in it as both video and sound are on board, I have no monitor connected to the computer yet it does beep once. So should I disassemble the motherboard heat sink and processor and redo it in removing the paste and adding new paste. Let me know

Ok took the motherboard completely out with nothing on the MB, took the heat sink and cpu out, there are no bent pins that i CAN see cleaned the cpu and heat sink and re applied with creamque 2. It and put back on mother board with the memory and put back in computer and all the required cable, started computer did same thing ran for a few second and stop about every other 5 seconds or so the cpu fan ran for second than stops again. I took all the cables off and looked at each connection the only thing I saw was that the 24 pin on of the pins was empty not like the other pins where there is a brass fitting in it, are all the 24 pins have to have brass fittings or is one of them suspose to be empty, other than that I am out of ideas.

Anyone have any other ideas let me know have done all that I can think of. Let me know.

Go into your BIOS and check to see if CPU Smart Fan Control or something of the like is enabled. It might just be that your CPU is not hot enough to warrant the fan running so it's confused. Have you booted to windows and checked your temps?

No I can't get into bios it does beep once but other than that nothing. The 24 pin on the psu there is a pin that has not brass in it like the other 23 would that be a problem? I am out of ideas anyone that can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I took all the cables off the motherboard just having cpu fan plugged in, the 4-pin and 24-pin also having the speaker, power sw and rest sw and nothing else. I started with a series of long beeps that indicated no memory, so next I put one memory chip in the first socket and booted with one short beep which indicated normal post, next I am going to test each memory chip in each socket so I can eliminate that it is a memory problem, still cpu fan starts and stops after a second.

All memory past post with one short beep in every socket so that's eliminates memory, made sure power supply is set at 115 v so that's good, the 24 pin on psu is missing the brass that is in the rest of the pins I do not know if that is normal if it isn't could that be the problem?

Idle is considered to be closing all programs and sitting on the desktop wait 1 minutes then look at temps. For load temps (Most important) download prime 95 and run a blend test for around 25 minutes to see full load temps. If it gets over 72C then I would consider stopping the test.

Come back when you have done that.

Cheers Cain.

Ok will do that these are the test I got with a few programs open

System temp 32 C
CPU Temp 12 C
Motherboard 32 C
Hard Drive 27 C
CPU FAN 1962 RPM
System Fan 1278 RPM

I will do the prime 95

Sorry It took so long to get back with you. The idle voltage was 1.204 and cpu temp was 18 C. I did what you said with the Prime 95 and the voltage was 1.4 and CPU temp was at 40 C at the highest so are them good readings? Let me know.

Yeah those temps are perfect! Good job!
