What do I have to install to be able to have built-in WIFI capability for my to-be-built-from-scratch computer? It will have an ASUS Sbertooth X79 motherboard.

Any help is greatly appreciated

For it to be built in it would have to be on the motherboard. And that board does not have built In wifi that I see. You can either get a pcie wifi card or USB wifi adapter. Using the LAN port would be a much much better idea though

Agreed. Since this is a gaming desktop, just use ethernet. I hate using wireless unless I have no choice.
