Hi. I am wondering if it's worth upgrading now or waiting on the following system:

Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3 (v2)
I5-760 running at 4.0GHZ
16mg 1600mhz ram
2x120 Vertex 3 RAID 0 on intel SATA II controller (marvel doesn't work)

My concern with the current system is that i'm not getting nearly the full performance out of my SSD drives, they max out at 525mb/sec as setup now. I would need a Z68 (or similar new board) to take advantage of the new vertex drives.

So is it worth moving to a new motherboard and i5-2500K processor just to get that bump in drive performance?

I'm not clear on the real-world CPU difference of an I5-760 and I5-2500K?

If it's not worth upgrading now what is the next big change in CPU & motherboard architecture that is coming in the next 12 to 24 months?

System is used for high end desktop use, light gaming and running VM's, CPU intensive
