OK, so I have come across an HP Pavilion DV6-3050sa laptop, it was pretty banged up (needed a new case and some other bits) but still worked, as I was stripping it down I saw a socket on the motherboard labeled "Touch screen".
Nothing was plugged into it and as far as I know the laptop isn't a touch screen laptop, however, if the same motherboard was used on other models that have touch screens then surely I would be able to fit one to this laptop right? I've had a look around but can't find anything really useful.
So, is this motherboard capable of running a touch screen display?
does it have to be resistive or capacitive?
What touch screens would fit if it is capable? - current screen is 15.6"
I don't work on laptops to this level much so I don't know if the display connectors or touch screen connectors are a standard thing, I'd be surprised if they aren't but just to make sure...
the serial of the mobo is (I think) DAOLX8MB6D1 REV D
I've attached some pics that will hopefully help Any help or advice would be great
