Is this PSU sufficient for my build?

Here's my build, I've had it awhile. The wattage is sufficient on paper but I know that doesn't always mean it really is. The system has trouble freezing under very low pressure, could it be the PSU?

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 (645)
Mainboard: MSI 870-G45
RAM: 4x2 GB DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900
HDD: Seagate 2 TB
PSU: Rocketfish 450W

A Radeon 69xx gpu? That is a horrible power supply. Which exact card? I would at least get a 500w+ power supply for it. Buy from good brands such as corsair, seasonic, antec, and xfx.

Junk for anything other than a minimal system.
  3. Your system will be running very close to your PSU peak output of 450w.

I would recommend getting a slightly bigger PSU and one from a trusted brand.

Cheap (no name) PSU's have a reputation of being unreliable and not being stable at there peak output.

In summary, get rid of that cheap PSU, and get a 500w or greater PSU.

  5. Oh good thanks for telling me, I might've gone that way just for price. Does it matter if it is multi 12V rail?
  6. Much better
  7. Thanks so much, I will definitely upgrade ASAP. I am getting issues that are probably not good for the rest of my components. Really appreciate the fast help!
