Hello,
What steps d I take to stop windows generating a boot loop after ghosting a drive from Intel motherboard to an ASUS motherboard? Can I switch of something before/after to allow the new mother board to access the drive?

Which Asus motherboard? You probably are getting an error 0x0000007B. If the old motherboard's SATA controller is in IDE mode, then you have to also set it to IDE mode on the new motherbaord. You can switch it to AHCI or RAID mode only once you've made sure that the drivers will be loaded at boot.
