Hi all.

I have a problem. My Dell XPS laptop has Windows 7 32-bit OS and 4GB of DDR3 RAM installed. For some reason Windows keeps giving an error message saying that it is low on memory and that I should close some programs. I find it absurd that this error comes even though I have only 1 or 2 applications like Skype or Google Chrome running. Does anybody know a way to permanently fix this problem? Is it possible that my RAM is not functioning properly and I should replace it or is it just a problem with Windows? Thanks for the help.

It's a very weird weird situation
Do u have any AV? AFAIK there are some reasons, which is listed here, sorted by ability:
- Does your Win recognize full of your mem? (Open Taskmgr --> PF or in Sys Properties or dxdiag)
- Is there any hidden app is drinkin' your mem? (This is a most-ability when I write some apps in Visual Studio. Check it in Taskmgr)
- Do u using an onboard-gf card? In some cases you (and me, last year too :D ) greedy and set it to 50% - 75% your RAM when that isn't really need.
- ...
- Dunno. Give up.
But you can check something may be useful here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=237100

I do not have an integrated GPU thats using the memory. However I have Kaspersky Internet Security which I believe is a huge consumer of system resources. I alos found that Windows is able to utilize only 2.3GB of Memory since it is a 32-bit version and not 64-bit. But even 2.3 GB of memory should be enough for internet explorer and skype. I found internet explorer using up quite a bit of memory though, which is suspicious. I guess I'll try using a different anti-virus and web browser and see how it works. Thanks for the assist! :)
