My current rig is a lenovo Y560p, it handles most games on high to max with ease but BF3 it only runs mediumish, and my temps go off the charts. Great laptop but i want to fully experiance BF3. Mix that with my dream of building my own PC and a holiday bonus check coming this week.... now just seems to be the right time. :)

My budget is around 700 hundred dollars. I have a keyboard, mouse, and will be using my 32 inch tv to game at 1280x720. I have no intention to overclock/flash bios or any of that stuff. :)

So here is what i am at so far.....

Mobo- Asus M5A97 $100
OS- Windows 7 HP 64 bit $100
CPU- 970 Black Edition $140
Ram- One 4gb ddr3 Gskill $20
GPU- XFX 6870 $180
PSU- Corsair 600 Watt $70
HDD- 500 GB Samsung SATA $80
Disk Drive- DVD Drive for about $20

Total comes to about 710 USD on Newegg.

So... what are your thoughts? What would you change? Are all of these parts compatible? Or do you have a better rig that you would suggest for the same price? How will this system handle BF3 at 720p?

Will 600w be enough to crossfire if i decide to add another 6870 later on?

I plan on buying this upcoming friday after i get payed. Also i have never build one before... so any good tutorials you recomend and again.. will these parts work togethe? I just don't want to throw out that type of money if they wont work together. :) Any help, critique, and guidence is appreciated.

P.S. Its 3 am here and i have been up for roughly 36 hours straight now so... please forgive any typos, ect. :)

Thanks in advance for any help and responses. :)

Thanks for the quick response. Thats all i needed to hear. Although it looks like im going with a 20 buck cheaper version of the 6870 and the 965 instead of the 970. Right about the same performance for a bit cheaper. Friday couldn't come sooner. :)

it doesn't really hurt to add another 4 gigs to ram, since ram is so cheap now. I would suggest to have 2x4gb of whatever mainstream brand.

if you can spend a little more money, go with the 6950 so your computer is a bit more future proofed. you definitely will enjoy the performance upgrade when you play your games for that extra $50-60 spent.

put up links to your individual pieces so we better understand each piece [like i have no idea what the rpm speed on that hard-drive is]. thanks.

You are right about the ram. Bump that up to 8gb for an extra twenty.

Would the 1gb 6950 still have signifigant performance boost over the 1gb 6870? Also would i need a better PSU or is 600 watt still enough for the 6950?

Thanks for the reply. :)
