hello. how long will this pc be able to play games at max to medium settings?
amd phenom ii 1055t not overclocked
asus m4a78lt-le motherboard
16gb ram at 1333mhz
700w psu
ati radeon hd6850 1gb
1.5tb hard disk.
i am waiting for pci express 3.0 to fully develop on the market
before doing any upgrade.

The 6850 will play all games maxed out at the moment @ 720p, the limiting factor in lower res is your cpu. You should definetely overclock it because it's an older and inferior architecture compared to Sandy Bridge, and a clock of 2.8Ghz is kinda low these days.
Buy yourself a new cooler and you should easily get to it 3.3Ghz.

Your GPU will do pretty decently at that resolution. System looks decent and balanced, and the 1055T is worth overclocking if able. Is your motherboard the asus m4a78lt-le or the asus m4a78lt-M le?

Do you own this system yet?

Don't worry about PCI-E 3.0, a 6850 won't lose more than ~1-2% (if anything) performance on a PCI-E 1.0 16x slot. :)
