Quite a simple question I think

Hey all,

I currently have a GTX 460 SE with a decent rig, and playing BF3 I get about 40fps on medium high. A friend of mine has offered me a GTX 560 TI very cheap and it's barely used.

So, basically I'd like a card that manages the same level of graphics (medium high) but at 50fps +

What kind of FPS increase do you guys think I'd see across the board going from a GTX 460 SE to a GTX 560ti.

It's basically just to tide me over til next year when I can complete a full upgrade again.

Thank you :)

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply :) I have a high quality 650Watt PSU so I think that should be fine. The rest of my rig is..

Core i5 760 3.3ghz
4gb DDR ram @ 1333mhz
Very clean system used only for gaming
Resolution @ 1080

That link you've send implies that there is approximately a 20fps between between a 460SE (presuming it's 5fps or so slower than a normal 460, and the TI 560...I guess then, maybe I could run all high and still be getting an extra 10fps...

Hmm, could be a good buy.

About 15-20 FPS would sound about right to me given the available information. please remember the review rig will be state of the art top line hardware so i always shave a few FPS off for that.

Assuming the card is OK and the price is right i would say its a good upgrade. Of course you could sell on the 460 to off set the cost or keep it as a spare.
Personally i always like to have a spare.

Thanks Mactronix. I just have one final concern actually (I get OCD about things not working when I buy PC parts)

I bought a motherboard which, I'll be honest, is too small for much. Now I do plan to upgrade in the next six months so for now I'm stuck with this.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3509#ov

and the card I'll be getting is this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-173-OK

My worry is that because it's longer, it'll cover all my SATA ports.

I'm probably overworrying, I think my GTX depth is currently about 2/3 across the top Sata ports (I only use two).

Should this be okay? I guess other people probably use GTX 560s with this mobo..

Thanks, and sorry for being such a worrier!

I don't think it will be an issue but if it is then you can get these cables which should fit under the car ok http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-001-AK&groupid=1929&catid=1928&subcat=
