All right, this may come as a shock to some, but I'll come right out and confess. I’m building a computer for the first time and can't decide which parts to buy. Yes it's unheard of, I know.
For months I surfed the seas of parts, chipsets, and unfortunate floods that raise HDD prices. It’s too much! Save me, I'm going to drown.
Forgive me for the amount of questions I have. If you can answer just one or two, I'd dance around my room in my underwear.

I’m a college student and like gaming, but I primarily intend to use this rig to edit with Premiere. So, I believe I’ll want Hyper-threading and NVIDIA CUDA technology. It needs to be very reliable and stable enough to withstand long editing sessions. I understand that means expensive parts and the ability to cool all my components very well so they can last longer (especially if I figure out the magic of overclocking).
So, is a 570 the most cost efficient way to utilize CUDA, and what’s a good 570 card built for long periods of use?
I’m taking a shot in the dark on PSUs. From what I’ve learned online, they need strong constant amperage coming from a single 12v rail to keep everything going, or something like that. I like the idea of having the option to SLI or Crossfire later.
Some might ask, "But you’re going to be editing there guy, why don’t you invest in a RAID?" Well that’s because I don’t understand them yet, and with HDD prices going up I don’t know if I can afford it. I’ve heard the Spinpoint is the most cost effective one as of now. I guess it’s my best (only) choice right now; seeing how the fabled WD Black Caviar that was $90 five months ago is now a whopping $250.
I know I’ll need lots of space to edit HD footage. I also know solid states are amazing and getting cheaper, but I also hear they have limited writes available or something. With HD footage, I’ll be moving, deleting, and writing copious amounts of bytes, but I still feel like I should get one.
For Cases, I don’t even know how to figure out what to get. I know I need to keep everything cool, I want USB 3.0, I’d like Firewire for cameras, enough bays for maybe 3 DVD/BD burners and a media card reader, and expansion slots to potentially hold SLI. The 500R would let me use the H100 liquid cooler, and the IN WIN I just picked for its price and front firewire. I’m very open to suggestions.
Apparently the 212 is a p**p cooler for its price, and I don’t really know anything about liquid cooling. However, keeping things cool for long sessions of editing is important. I’m guessing that means I’ll need a very efficient case an cooler. Are there ways to cool of the GPU as well?
